In His Word:                                          Lutheran Schools - Securing Each Child’s Future

My favorite passage:  "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  This wasn’t my confirmation verse, but if I were to pick one now this would definitely be it.  Each of us were born “without strength”.  We came into this world literally kicking and screaming.  We had it made.  A nice soft, warm womb with all the nourishment we needed.  But when the proper time came, we were delivered.  We were thrust into the cold cruel world.  But we didn’t have to go it alone; our parents were there for us.  Our parents provided for us until we could do things for ourselves.  They held us up and taught us to walk.  That is when the world became so much smaller.  We could “do it ourselves”; while holding onto the couch, table or chair that happened to be there.  It is human nature to think that we can go it alone.  But that is not the way God made us.  God made us to first of all be dependent on Him and second of all dependent on one another.  To think otherwise is arrogant and wrong.  Because of this dependence, God sent His son, our Savior Christ Jesus, to live and die for us.  It was not for anything we had done wrong (yet).  And need Him we do.  Without this salivation we would be doomed to a life in hell.  Thank God for taking care of us before we even realized it.  Thank God for His wisdom and love.

D.A.R.E. Graduation

On Wednesday, May 7, our 28 sixth grade students will complete the classes that entitle them to graduate from the DARE Program.  This program has been taught once per week throughout the winter by Deputy Dan Bellino of the Monroe County Sherriff’s Department.  Graduation will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Heritage Room.
